Camp Allegheny

1st for the first time Cameron and Mason would go to overnight camp and Stacey and I were not sure if Mason would be too scared to go. Weeks leading up to camp when we asked Mason about it he would get sad and sacred. We knew he would enjoy it once he got there and we were also looking forward to spending some alone time. This just had to work. The day I brought them to Camp Allegheny which is about 1 hours drive from our house the boys were so excited they could hardly sit in their seats. The place had a large swimming pool, soccer field, hiking trails, a small river, baseball fields, archery, daily devotion time, and an indoor basketball gym. I wanted to stay it looked so fun. The boys slept in little cabins with other boys their age.

At registration they move you around from one station to the next and there are no BIG goodbyes so when it was time for the boys to leave their last station it was a wave good bye and off they went.

We didn't hear anything for 6 days and were missing the boys, but enjoyed the well needed alone time. We thought we would have more free time and soon realized how much the boys do for themselves. The house was not as dirty and a bit quieter, but we were ready for them to come home.

On pick up day we had to wait for 1.5 hours to get them and happy to see their tan bodies waving hello. Cameron and Mason were both tired and a little sick and I am sure it was from all the fun. After a few days and many questions later we learned a few things. Mason brushed his teeth only once, lost his pillow jacket and swim goggles, gained some other boys clothes and pillow, and put his dirty wet clothes in his bag with his clean clothes every day. Cameron only brushed his teeth at night, thought he lost both his tennis shoes (which were later found in his bag), and sings songs at the dinner table now. New experiences and adventures for them and us. It was take a few days to recuperate for all of us.
