Paintball

Yes, we played paintball in Kazakhstan. What else is there to do anyway...

Many people asked me how I found this place. I told them that one day coming home from picking Mason up from school I noticed a sign, well part of the sign that said paintball. The words were in English with a phone number and an email address. I was a little skeptical, but what did I have to lose. I had our liaison desk (they speak Russian) call to see what it was. It turns out that the man they spoke to has a girlfriend that speaks English so I called her and got the 411. The next day I drove out to the place to play and took a look. It was definitely different than anyplace you could play in the states. It was actually better. I would describe it as urban warfare.

Anyway a bunch of us went out and had a great time. I think I will have even more people wanting to play next time.

Mason wanted to ride his bike without training wheels today. I wasn't quite ready for the challenge, but Mason must have known he could do it. He showed me right away that he is a pro. He didn't fall once and he even got going all by himself. All Mason wants to do now is race his friends. I am sure he feels as fast as a race car. Enjoy the videos.

"Driving" in KZ

On our pre assignment visit we noticed that Dostyk, the camp we now live in, has large streets and no cars. Once we noticed that the kids could actually play in the streets we decided that they should get a car. We vowed never to do this in Houston due to safety, but with only taxis coming to pick us up and the speed limit in camp is only 5 mph it was a good decision.
We made sure we got a two person car and now all the kids in the camp want to ride it. How long do you think it will be before it breaks? Stay tuned...
